Asian-American Voter Turnout Soared Over 45% In 2020 Election, Study Finds—And That’s Probably An Undercount

Voter turnout among Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders skyrocketed more than any other racial demographic group for the 2020 presidential election, according to a study from the group AAPI Victory Fund, which argued AAPI communities played a “decisive role” in President Joe Biden’s victory. Nationally, around 4 million AAPI voters cast a ballot in the 2020 presidential election—a massive increase from just under 2.8 million who voted in the 2016 election, and some of the biggest increases came in critical swing states.
