Former NBA champion Rajon Rondo arrested on gun, drug charges
Former NBA champion guard Rajon Rondo was arrested Sunday in Indiana for unlawful possession of a firearm, drug paraphernalia and marijuana, per WDRB in Indiana.
All the charges are misdemeanors.
Rondo, who spent 16 seasons in the NBA, was stopped for a traffic violation in Jackson County, Ind., and a trooper smelled marijuana, the outlet reported, citing court records and an Indiana State Police spokesperson.
A search uncovered that the 37-year-old Rondo was carrying gun, a “personal use” amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Indiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Wheeles told WDRB on Monday night.
Rondo is not allowed to have a gun because of a no-contact court order, according to the report, and he was transported to the Jackson County Bail, Wheeles told WDRB.
The two-time NBA champion “immediately” posted bond according to Wheeles, and the report said it’s unknown when he will be arraigned.
