A man and woman are dead after a murder-suicide at a home in north Phoenix on Sunday morning. Police say 59-year-old Darryle Mooney allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, 70-year-old Ila Washington, before shooting himself.

Around 8:45 a.m. Phoenix police went to a domestic violence call at a home near Central Avenue and Union Hills Drive. Officers arrived and found a man and woman who died after being shot.

Police say officers received information that a man said he had killed his girlfriend and was threatening to kill himself. Officers arrived at the scene, surrounded the home, and attempted to call the occupants out through a loudspeaker and by cellphone. However, there was no answer. Detectives got a search warrant and went inside the home, where they found Washington, who was dead after being shot, and Mooney, who had shot himself.
