Sixty-four percent of the total U.S. population has had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and more than 182 million Americans are fully vaccinated. Yet many people, particularly in rural and minority-majority areas, remain skeptical of the vaccines, despite their effectiveness. Overall, more than 680,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic began, and 1,500 Americans continue to die each day, according to the CDC.
